In the United States if you want to own wildlife you must register and obtain a federal permit. The law also requires that owners of skunks spay or neuter as well as descent their skunk. One of our patients, Nala, was brought in by her owner for exactly this reason. Nala had to be spayed and descented so that her owner could bring her home. She is now completely recovered and is happy in her new home.
